The club had a booth and two lathes going for top-making and other demonstrations at the 2013 Woodworking show in Collinsville.

February 14, 2013 Meeting Minutes

28 members and 1 guest were present.

Treasurer’s report: $1390 after expenses and top sales from the show

Librarian absent

Old business

  • After a top blank-making workshop we have an inventory of 440 top blanks
  • Still waiting on shirt and cap prices from Joe
  • AAW not providing insurance – Our insurance covers theft, aaw does not
  • Dues money due starting next month

NEW BUSINESS

  • Woodworking show was successful.  We sold $98 worth of tops.
  • After wood show discussions we are seeking  a volunteer for natural edge bowl demonstration
  • Festus Band building has been secured for future meetings and 2 Saturday events.  We discussed possibly refinishing the floors in exchange for free use.
  • We are committed to a booth at the festival the weekend before the 4th (June 29th and 30th)
  • Spring turning day will be Saturday, April, 27th
  • May 18th will be first Saturday event in the new location.

President’s Challenge

The President’s challenge was a lidded vessel.  There were 15 entries with a four-way tie between Craig, Joe Bell, Eric Haas, and Jerry Cox won.

Demonstration

The demonstration was postponed due to a lack of equipment.
